Welcome to my personal website. I have a medical physics/biomedical engineering background and I am currently a tenured Full Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece, and the Director of the Electronics Lab.

My research explores and exploits light-tissue interaction phenomena for developing novel, non invasive methods for diagnosing and for guiding treatment of tissue abnormalities with emphasis to precancerous lesions.

I am the founder of spin-off companies, I hold several patents, I am member of editorial boards, author of several scientific articles and presenter to international conferences. I teach classes in the fields of microelectronics, optoelectronics, biomedical engineering and advanced electronic imaging at the undergraduate and graduate level.

My research and innovations have been originated from- and are centered in- the biomedical imaging sector. This sector comprises my constant source of inspiration; however my developments have successfully translated to other demanding applications, such as the non destructive analysis of objects of artistic and historic value. This comprises my second research activity sector and I feel proud for being able to serve the society by contributing to discovering and to preserving our cultural heritage.
